Health Psychology Associates was created by Dr. Ellyn Herb, Ph.D. to provide services to women and their family members. Dr. Herb conducts individual, group and couples therapy in her private practice in San Jose, CA. She specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, body image disturbance, binge eating, dieting disorders, depression, anxiety and trauma. Dr. Herb also enjoys working with adolescents and their parents on issues which arise in the family and working with couples using Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.  Dr. Herb is also completing advanced training in Focusing Oriented Art Therapy and is beginning to integrate the use of Focusing into her work.
Dr. Herb also offers consultation to therapists who are working with individuals who have eating disorders, food, body image, or weight issues. Consultation can be arranged by phone by calling 408-296-9600. Dr. Ellyn Herb, Ph.D. has been working as a therapist since 1983. She graduated from  Fielding Graduate University in 1986 and was an Associate Dean at John F. Kennedy University from 1990-1999 in the Graduate School of Professional Psychology. She designed and implemented the Eating Disorder certificate program at the Campbell campus, where she teaches continuing education courses for licensed professionals. Dr. Herb also teaches psychology courses at San Jose State University and Evergreen Valley College.
